Nightclub rules

Sir, – According to the latest Government advice on the reopening of nightclubs, the wearing of masks will be necessary “except when eating , drinking and dancing”. I am sure patrons will comply with this regulation without too much difficulty! – Yours, etc,

Sir, – No doubt it will now be difficult to gain admittance to nightclubs. This is where the removal of public phone boxes will be missed. In the old days, on being refused admission one could dance away in a phone box, isolated, to the precursor of techno music, the engaged tone. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – I have found a loophole in the new Covid 19 guidelines. At a nightclub you must wear a mask at all times unless you are “eating, drinking or dancing”. This seems to mean that once you dance continuously you can go anywhere in the club, including the bar. I believe “The Hustle” would be the most suitable dance on this occasion. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Will nightclubs need to recruit staff in black soutanes, akin to the parish priests of the 1950s in the “ballrooms of romance”, equipped with the obligatory stick, to patrol the floors of nightclubs to ensure that the rules imposed by the Government are being obeyed? – Yours, etc,
