Sir, – Kevin J Sullivan (Letters, March 22nd), writing about Irish America and republicanism, makes the point, "One can surely make the case that Tourism Ireland does everything it can to promote a Blarney Stone Ireland to all those misty-eyed Americans."
Forget about misty-eyed Americans. Coming closer to home, what about Tourism Ireland and its inane depiction of Cork, Tipperary and Limerick being part of Ireland’s Ancient East?
If it can get away with peddling something as bizarrely contradictory in terms of south and east here in Ireland then it must really feel it is on a roll in relation to Irish Americans, misty-eyed or not. – Yours, etc,
NOEL HOWARD,
