Living in the plastic age

Sir, – I, like a good many of your readers, had their formative years in an age without plastic bottles.

If it was a bottle, it was glass. We washed the milk bottle and returned it, we washed the “mineral” bottle and returned it, we drank the beer and the publican refilled the bottle. Flash came in a cardboard box and we mixed it in water and washed the floor. Vim came in a cardboard tube and we scrubbed the toilet with it. Sunlight soap came in a bar and we washed everything with it, including ourselves.

If all that was good for us then, why can’t we just go back to that age? – Yours, etc,

LIAM
