Sir, – It was disappointing to see The Irish Times/ Ipos MRBI opinion poll results ranking the "pandemic performance" of the Taoiseach, Tánaiste and Minister for Health with that of the chief medical officer Tony Holohan (February 25th). One is a public servant, the others are politicians.
Politicians have the onerous task of balancing conflicting demands. Tony Holohan has the challenge of assessing data and presenting a view and guidance on the pandemic.
Both are difficult tasks but cannot be measured and should not be presented as being comparable. – Yours, etc,
