Sir, – Your report on the Ireland v Scotland cricket match (Sports, October 6th) states that the Scotland batsmen Wallace and Leask "had the freedom to take their time and put on the 51 runs needed in 5.4 overs".
Taking their time, Wallace and Leask scored at the exceptional rate of just under ten runs per over. I hate to think what would have happened had they been in a hurry. – Yours, etc,
