Sir, – We live in “interesting times” where bad news of pandemics and unrest seem to predominate.
Notwithstanding, I am constantly reminded of the basic goodness of Irish people.
When recently collecting on Dawson Street in Dublin for local charities, the generosity and good nature of donors shone like a light on a cold day. With all the worries and distractions that are being endured, it was so encouraging to enjoy the good humour and decency of our people.
That, more than anything else, is the identity of this nation. – Yours, etc,
