Sir, – We refer to a brace of pheasant so surely the solution to Mattie Lennon's conundrum (September 8th) regarding the plural of computer mouse is a brace of mouse. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Why don’t they just use the trackpad? – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Continuing to help solve the issue of irregular plurals, do remember the plural of “tenderfoot” may be either “tenderfoots” or “tenderfeet”. Whatever the conscientious writer feels comfortable with is sure to be acceptable. After all, any letter writer “worth his or her salt”, would surely consult their Concise Oxford Dictionary or other reliable source in the first instance? Somehow, using “worth their salts” doesn’t quite complete the astute letter writer’s lexical circles! – Yours, etc,
BRENDA MORGAN,
Howth,
Co Dublin.
