Sir, – I read that "Local authorities that have attempted to use CCTV to crack down on illegal dumpers have been reprimanded by the Data Protection Commission (DPC) which has found that there is no legal basis for using CCTV in such campaigns" (News, March 20th).
Can the DPC explain, in language we are capable of understanding, why a local authority cannot put a camera where the law is obviously and blatantly being broken on a regular basis? – Yours, etc,
