Homegrown insulation

Sir, – I write further to Paul Arnold's and Michael Pike's excellent letters (November 11th) each giving deep dives into the complex topic of retrofitting homes.

How about redirecting subsidies from fossil fuel-made insulation materials to sheep's wool and hemp?

Both of these materials can provide sustainable insulation, and production could be ramped up if subsidies were in place.

There could be sustainable employment here in Ireland in growing hemp and processing sheep's wool into insulation
