Sir, — I enjoyed Patrick Logue's article "Dog versus Hog" (Life, July 5th), about his hedgehog Gregory. My daughter Roisin's hedgehog, Harvey, has been residing under her garden shed for three years now. When she opens her back door of an evening, packet of cat food in hand, Harvey comes running and he eats the food as fast as Roisin can squeeze it out for him onto his plate.
However, there is just one caveat about all this. My daughter accepts that Harvey could easily be a Hermione. Likewise, I suggest that Gregory might well be a Grainne.
To try to ascertain the truth would surely be a prickly matter. – Yours, etc,
TIM O’PREY,
