Golf and domestic tranquillity

Sir, – Seamus Hegarty (July 14th) says that the time taken to play a round of golf is a problem and incompatible with modern lifestyles.

Although I’m usually delighted to welcome my husband back from his round of golf, many of my friends wish that their significant other would remain on the golf course for a second 18 holes, thereby giving them some peace and quiet.

Golf is in many ways the housewife’s best friend. – Yours, etc,

MARY MORRISSEY,
