Sir, – Michael Williams (September 16th) states that when one “offers a comprehensive apology, surely prudence as well as good feeling require us to accept it and move on”.
Normally of course, but I am afraid that in Ireland, the normal does not apply.
Prudence and good feeling certainly do not.
The normal here is that we all rush to confess everybody’s sins in public but never our own. It is a form of self-canonisation and self-defence. – Yours, etc,
