Sir, – Is it not bordering on the miraculous that quite possibly the only nine people in Ireland who have confidence in Garda Commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan are all on the Policing Authority? – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Why should this State pay out for an "international expert" to audit the Garda? Does the Independent Alliance not know that this has already been done by the Garda Inspectorate. Their report Changing Policing was published in 2015. The inspectorate is headed by an international expert on policing. The report can be accessed on the inspectorate's website and it is both comprehensive and significantly critical of the Garda. Showing that you have read it should be a prior requirement for pontificating on policing in Ireland. – Yours, etc,
CIARAN McCULLAGH,
