Sir, – James O’Connor TD’s annoyance at the omission of bypasses at Castlemartyr and Killeagh from the recently launched National Development Plan brings to mind a memory from my childhood. As a nine-year old, I was out walking with my aunt close to the village of Castlemartyr. She stopped, and pointing in over a ditch at a field of corn, she said, “That’s the field where they are going to build the road to bypass Castlemartyr.”
By the way, I am now 65 . Do the maths, Mr O’Connor, and then decide whether to hold your breath or not! – Yours, etc,
EAMONN McCARTHY,
Ballinlough,
