Sir, – There has been a lot of correspondence on these pages recently on the subject of how Irish tax policies impact negatively on tax revenues in poorer countries which badly need the money.
There is another way in which Ireland also damages these countries. I refer to the widespread HSE policy of recruiting nurses and doctors, who have been trained there at great expense, for the Irish health system, instead of using our own graduates, also trained at great expense.
Both these policies should be reconsidered in the interest both of fairness to the less well-off countries and to our national reputation. – Yours, etc,
