Sir, – It was with some surprise that I read the article "Is Ireland not pulling its weight when it comes to applying the GDPR?" (Business, Opinion, April 21st).

We have recently published three separate reports, namely our annual report for 2021, a report on the handling of cross-border complaints under the GDPR, and an independent audit report conducted by our internal auditors, all of which demonstrate otherwise.

As well as enforcing the GDPR, we have consistently ensured transparency by publishing our outputs, many of which have been covered here in The Irish Times.

Ireland and the DPC are punching well above their weight in terms of the application of the GDPR! – Yours, etc,
