Sir, – I was sad to read that there are proposals to relocate Clontarf Golf Club on Dublin's northside to part of the Abbeville estate ("Clontarf Golf Club given offer to relocate to Haughey estate under housing plan", November 27th).
When my great-aunt Violet Cusack lived there in the early 1900s she painted many beautiful portraits of an amazing variety of wild flowers that grew there. I’m not sure what remains there now, but the creation of another sterile golf course would surely denude another part of county Dublin of its biodiversity.
– Yours, etc,
IGOR CUSACK,
