Sir, – I am astounded to learn from recent letters (January 17th) of “unseemly scrimmages” at Dublin bus stops.
Dublin Bus bylaws clearly delineate the appropriate behaviour: “Each passenger shall queue at a bus stop in an orderly manner. Where an authorised person is regulating the boarding and alighting from a vehicle, each passenger shall on arrival at a bus stop take up the position at the rear of the appropriate queue, move forward in an orderly and regular manner and obey the reasonable instructions of an authorised person regulating such queue and in the absence of such authorised person obey any notices displayed at the bus stop.”
I have been unaware that these directions were not being observed, travelling, as I do, on the Luas Green Line where civility, politeness and decorum are de rigueur. – Yours, etc,
JACK MORRISSEY,
Dublin 16.
Sir, – People who travel on the bus could do the rest of us a favour and get a decent set of headphones. It’s annoying to have to listen to a hissy, tinny version of a passenger’s favourite song leaking from their headsets. – Yours, etc,
CATHERINE MURPHY,
Dublin 8.
