Sir, – In the week that occasioned the women's rugby teams of Connacht and Ulster having to prepare for an interprovincial rugby match in rat-infested surroundings, Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney thinks it is a good idea to spend €200 million on the America's Cup Yacht Race in his beloved Cork ("Coveney faces resistance over America's Cup Bid", September 14th).
Avoiding the very obvious patrician parochialism involved, what part of “elitism” does Coveney not understand?
