Sir, – The US president’s reassurances about his mental state can now surely bring closure to this matter. Geniuses are by definition rare, and surely “very stable” ones are the best kind? We should count ourselves fortunate to have one as leader of the free world. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – In the introduction to his new book about Donald Trump, the author Michael Wolff states that many of his revelations are “a version of events I believe to be true ”. Hardly a ringing endorsement of journalistic veracity and objectivity. Yet liberals have worked themselves into a frenzy over this self proclaimed work of fiction. Presumably because the author is merely pandering to liberal prejudices. The old adage about not believing everything you read was never more apt. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Given that it has Steve Bannon's substantial fingerprints all over it, surely a more appropriate title for Michael Wolff's revenge-pol tome would be Fired and Furious? – Yours, etc,
