A storm in a teapot

Sir, – As a kid I rebelled against adults putting milk into my tea for me, as my tea always ended up too milky. So, I now enjoy my tea “black” and unmilked.

However, my gripe is with the coffee shops and restaurants which, when I order a pot of tea, give me a teapot full of hot water, with enough for two cups. Then they give me one tea bag, generally sitting in my cup. This results in a very nice first cup of tea to my own taste.

However, when it comes to the second cup, if I put the tea bag into the teapot, the tea is too strong. If I leave the wet tea bag on the saucer, then the cup of tea is cold. Solutions? – Yours, etc,

TONY
