A rejuvenating stroll in the park

Sir, – As I sought to enjoy my newly found freedom, I went for a stroll in Palmerston Park in Rathmines yesterday at 2.30pm.

I was struck by the number of remarkably youthful septuagenarians there.

Some were kicking footballs, practising hurling or playing games. Others pushed prams, jogged or cycled past me in groups. Surprisingly, they all bore a remarkable resemblance to young families and teenagers!

A notice on the gate restricting access at this time supposedly reserved for older citizens might help. – Yours, etc,
