A helping hand?

Sir, – The US midterm elections will be held on November 3rd. Russian president Vladimir Putin says he agrees, in principle, to Russia entering tripartite negotiations with Ukraine and US participation on November 10th.

One might be forgiven for a sceptical observation that Putin is trying to help out president Donald Trump in the elections, after which he will refuse to accept any deal other than the one Russia has not budged from so far. – Yours, etc,
