Sir, – I am reading Paul Waldron’s letter (August 8th) as I sit at the only ESB charging station in Kinsale, Co Cork. I am attempting to charge my car, but there is a fault with the charger and I can only get up to eight mins charge before it cuts out.
I have made five calls to the helpline, who rebooted it and advised that they were aware of the problem and that a part was on order but it was taking a long time to get it.
Thankfully there is no one else waiting to charge and I am not in a rush (extra time to enjoy the newspaper). To add to this, on our way down we stopped at a service station, but neither of the two chargers was working.
It is heartening that more people are choosing electric vehicles, but I agree that the charging system needs to improve to cater for the increased demand.
