Sir, – The punishment handed out to Drogheda United is far too lenient (“Drogheda United hit with away supporter ban and €15,000 fine following Oriel Park flare damage,“ February 26th).
In addition to the fine of €15,000, they should pay for the repairs to the Oriel Park pitch.
Drogheda’s supporters have been banned from attending their next away fixtures against Sligo Rovers, St Patrick’s Athletic, Derry City and Waterford. These clubs should be compensated for loss of revenue.
If the FAI is serious about dealing with the dangers of pyrotechnics they need adopt a far more robust approach. – Yours, etc,
