Sir, – I am writing to express my disappointment with Aer Lingus’s seating policy, which recently resulted in my family being separated on our flight. We are a family of four (two adults and two children aged 14 and 12), yet at check-in we were assigned random seats – all middle seats – with our children placed beside strangers.
We were told this happened because other passengers had paid to select seats. While I understand there are fees for seat selection, I believe a family-friendly airline should ensure that children are seated with their parents or guardians as a basic standard of care.
This experience created unnecessary stress and does not reflect well on Aer Lingus’s stated customer service values. – Yours, etc,
