Sir, – Remarking on Maria Steen’s handbag choice (Miriam Lord, September 25th) is unbecoming of The Irish Times in this day and age. How many men in the Dáil drove up in new SUVs or cars costing six figures? Ironically, commenting on Ms Steen’s choice of wardrobe accessories is like something from Ireland’s treatment of women we’d rather leave behind. – Yours, etc,
