Sir, –What a Trumpian reply Ryanair gave to The Irish Times about the large number of passengers fined for what blatantly is a change of policy regarding bag sizes(“Ryanair dismisses hundreds of reader baggage experiences as misinformed ‘hearsay’”, Pricewatch, April 9th). People genuinely believed that the bag-sizer was accurate, now Ryanair says it is in fact bigger than it should be! So although the bag fits inside, it may in fact be oversized!
That level of obfuscation lets a great airline and the people who work for it down badly. – Yours, etc,

A chara, – Ryanair has an opportunity to prove to its customers that paying €75 for carry-on bags that previously the airline carried at no cost is not just greed dressed up as nonsense. I’ve encountered crew members who were embarrassed at having to charge the extra fee.
As the bags are not overweight and there is a handing crew already in place to load and unload bags, putting the bags into the hold does not cost the airline €75 per bag.
The additional charge of €75 could instead be donated directly to a children’s charity, and Ryanair could then stop selling scratch cards. – Is mise,

Sir, – I have read with interest Conor Pope’s article regarding apparent changes to Ryanair’s baggage sizing practices.
Might I suggest that an inspection of the baggage sizers by officers of the Legal Metrology Services would resolve this matter once and for all and assuage Ryanair’s concerns over “hearsay” comments by an extraordinary number of passengers? – Yours, etc,
