A teenager is recovering in hospital after receiving a number of stab wounds during an incident in Westport, Co Mayo last night.
Gardaí in are appealing for witnesses following the serious assault which occurred at around 11pm at Railway Walk.
The 17-year-old male who sustained serious injuries was taken by ambulance to Mayo General Hospital where his condition is described as stable.
Three males aged in their late teens were arrested and are currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Westport Garda Station.
A technical examination of the scene is underway and enquiries are ongoing.
