A pipe bomb has been made safe outside a Catholic family's house in Co Antrim today.
An RUC spokesman said they were treating the attempted attack on the family, in the village of Aoghil, as sectarian.
The device was discovered at the back of the house on Church Street at 9 a.m. after the householder found a broken window. Several houses in the area were evacuated while British army bomb disposal experts examined the scene.
North Antrim Sinn Féin councillor Mr Philip McGuigan said the attack was "clearly part of an orchestrated campaign being carried out by loyalists against Catholics.
"I would call upon nationalists to be extra vigilant in the coming weeks as it is clear that loyalists are intent on continuing their sectarian pogrom", he said.
This afternoon, SDLP Mayor of Coleraine John Dallat called on the RUC to arrest and charge those involved in the campaign saying that "even the dogs on the street know who is involved, where they hold their meetings and who the chief architects in each area are."
