Hewlett-Packard has announced it is to cut over 200 jobs from its Irish workforce over the next two years.
The global computer gaint said that almost 6,000 jobs are to be cut in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) as part of a major cost-cutting drive.
A spokesperson for HP Ireland confirmed that 204 jobs will go in Ireland but that the impact on the firm's Irish operations would be minimal because of redeployment and hiring in other areas.
Hewlett-Packard said in July it would axe about 10 per cent of its work force to cut costs by $1.9 billion a year.
The computer maker has said a total of 2,500 jobs will go in Germany and Britain, in addition to the 1,240 in France.
HP employs over 4,000 people in Ireland, with facilities in Kildare, Dublin, Galway and Belfast.
About 1,800 of HP's Irish employees work in the Dublin Inkjet Manufacturing Operation in Leixip.
