Man dies after Dublin shooting

A man has died in hospital after being shot in the head in south inner city Dublin today.

A man has died in hospital after being shot in the head in south inner city Dublin today.

The victim, who was known to gardaí, was seriously injured in an incident outside a property in Inchicore at about 2.50pm.

A Garda spokesman said the man was alive when emergency crews arrived to the scene at Myra Close off Emmet Road. He was rushed to St James’s Hospital.

He was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where he was pronounced dead tonight.

A murder inquiry has commenced and the scene of the shooting has been examined by a Garda forensic team.

A firearm believed to have been used in the incident has been recovered. Two gunmen are understood to have been involved in the attack.
