The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) is investigating an incident at a building site in Co Cork last weekend which resulted in the death this morning of a 55 year-old man.

The man sustained serious head injuries when he fell from an extended JCB while taking photographs of works at the Mitchellstown ringroad on Saturday afternoon.

Gardaí and an ambulance were called to the scene and the man was taken to Cork University Hospital where he died this morning.

The victim's name has not yet been released.

A spokesman for the HSA confirmed to ireland.comthis morning that its investigators had already visited the scene.
