July 2017: High Court approves €15m for boy brain damaged at birth due to alleged medical negligence. Jack Leane, through his mother Annette Leane, sued consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist Barbara Kerkhoff, of Cork University Hospital (CUH), and the HSE, over care and treatment before and during his birth at CUH on August 11, 2008.

May 2016: Final €8m lump sum payment awarded to Jamie Patterson. Teenager sued the Coombe hospital over the circumstances of his birth, since when he has suffered cerebral palsy with spastic quadriplegia, is not able to talk, and communicates only through facial expressions and body language.

April 2016: €11.6m awarded to 11-year-old Isabelle Sheehan , who has cerebral palsy, in final settlement of her action against consultant Dr David Corr of Cork Clinic over care at the time of her birth in 2004.

2015: Eoin Dunne awarded €11.4m for injuries sustained minutes after his birth at the Coombe hospital in Dublin.
