Status yellow weather warnings are in place in the south of the country as heavy wind and rain are expected during Saturday and into Sunday.
A status yellow rainfall warning will be in place for much of Saturday in Co Clare and Co Kerry with a total of 30-50mm of rain predicted.
Widespread heavy showers are expected for most of Saturday across much of the country with a risk of thunder and spot flooding. Highest temperatures of 16-18 degrees.
A yellow wind warning which was in place for counties Wexford, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Waterford expired at noon on Saturday.
Showers will continue into Saturday night but will become lighter and well scattered overnight. Temperatures overnight will be 11-14 degrees.
Many areas in the north of the country will be dry on Sunday morning but rain is expected to spread northeastwards from Munster by early afternoon. Temperatures will be 16-19 degrees.
Drivers are being advised to slow down and increase their breaking distance in the wet and windy conditions.
Spells of rain are expected for the start of next week with temperatures ranging from 16 to 19 degrees with light southerly breezes.
Wednesday is expected to dry with sunny spells with one or two showers forecast for the rest of the day. Temperatures will range from 17 to 20 degrees.
Met Éireann has also issued a potato blight warning which is expected to last until Thursday evening.
