Men held after searches in investigation into killing of Dean Johnson in Clondalkin

Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of Dean Johnson in west Dublin last month.

Gardaí in Lucan, assisted by other local and national Garda units, today carried out a number of searches in Ronanstown, Clondalkin, Cabra and Kilcock, Co Kildare today, September 11th, 2013.

A sawn-off shotgun, ammunition and a quantity of drugs were recovered during the searches, a Garda spokesman said.

Two men in their 20s were arrested under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939-1998. They are being detained at Lucan and Ronanstown Garda stations.

Johnson (21) was fatally wounded at 12.20am at Harelawn Green, Clondalkin in Dublin in the early hours of Saturday, August 24th.

Having initially been shot once in the body, he was then shot several times in the head and upper body.

Although Johnson was known to gardaí, he was regarded as a low-level operator in the drug trade and was not a major gangland figure.
