Five young men have been arrested in Kerry in connection with an armed robbery on a post office in Tarbert on Monday.
A Garda spokesman said two males entered the building at about 4.05pm armed with a handgun and a bat.
“They threatened staff before escaping with a small amount of cash. They made their escape in a Black Mitsubishi Colt which was discovered burnt out nearby a short time later.”
No shots were fired and no one was physically injured.
The spokesman said gardaí from Listowel arrested five males yesterday during a search and arrest operation.
All are in their late teens and early 20s.
They are currently detained under section 30 of the Offences against the State Act 1939 at number of Garda Stations in the Kerry division.
The investigation is ongoing.
