Journalists at the Sunday Business Post have expressed concern to management at the newspaper about its possible sale.

In a statement last night National Union of Journalists chapel officers at the newspaper said they believed that "any new owner must be committed to maintaining the editorial integrity and traditions of the Sunday Business Post. In the absence of any such specific commitment, their consent and co-operation should not be presumed upon by any of the parties."

However they would welcome dialogue with interested parties "who are willing to preserve the traditions of the newspaper".

Ms Barbara Nugent, managing director at the newspaper, refused to comment last night on speculation that she was considering a management buyout.
