Boy (15) charged over kidnapping

A 15-year-old boy has been charged in connection with the attempted kidnapping of a man in Limerick on Sunday.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged in connection with the attempted kidnapping of a man in Limerick on Sunday.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Limerick Children's Court today, charged with the false imprisonment of 19-year-old Stephen Cusack.

Mr Cusack was abducted from his home at Caisleán na hAbhann in Castletroy on Sunday night.

Three men, one carrying a handgun, bundled him into his own pick-up truck and told him he would have to contact relatives about getting money from their post office.

The gang took him to a derelict house in Donoughmore, Co Limerick, where Mr Cusack managed to escape. He was picked up by gardaí shortly before 12.30am on Monday, who were responding to a call about suspect activity in the area.

Gardaí are still searching for two older men who were involved in the abduction.
