Tommy Meskill announced as RTÉ's new London correspondent

Meskill will take over from John Kilraine who has held post since 2022

RTÉ news reporter Tommy Meskill has been announced as the organisation’s new London correspondent.

Meskill, who has reported for RTÉ for the past eight years will take over from John Kilraine who recently completed his contract and returned to work with RTÉ News and Current Affairs in Dublin.

Kilraine had held the post since 2022.

Until Tuesday, Meskill had been part of RTÉ's political unit, reporting from Leinster House and the European Parliament.

In his role as London correspondent, he will be responsible for reporting across digital, radio and television “on all aspects of life in Britain” including political, economic, cultural and social affairs, RTÉ said in a statement.

“I’m delighted to have been appointed as RTÉ's new London Correspondent. It comes at a busy time, ahead of a General Election which could bring about significant change for the country. It’s an honour to have been chosen and I’m very excited to get started,” Meskill said.

Having joined RTÉ in 2016, Meskill who is originally from Clare has worked across news2day and Morning Ireland, and is also an occasional newscaster.
