Mayo county chairman Paddy McNicolas has admitted he does not know if James Horan will be manager next season after a meeting on Tuesday failed to resolve the matter. Horan's future as Mayo manager remains a mystery after a meeting with the county board members failed to iron out his plans for next season. Horan was still unable to commit to the position for another year.
McNicholas said yesterday: “James said he will come back to us with an answer soon . . . that’s all the news we have on it at the minute. He is to come back to us, but there is no date put on it.”
He said Horan did not confirm during the meeting rumours his back room team of James Nallen and Tom Prendergast would not be joining him if he was to take on the job again. "No, he didn't say that his management team had walked out. I'd say myself that there might be changes, but that's my view."
