At just 22 years old, comedian Al Porter is about to begin his 12th season acting in panto at the Olympia Theatre, this time in Freezin' – The Story of the Snow Queen, a show he also co-wrote.
"I wrote it with Karl Spain, who is one of my best friends. He wanted a woman, but he got me. We wrote it in two days. Last Saturday and Sunday to be specific," he tells Roísín Ingle on this week's podcast.
Beyond panto, Porter has grand plans. “Really the ambition long term is to eventually put on the biggest comedy show spectacle that Ireland has ever seen, in the biggest venue that we have.”
Porter's co-star Dustin the Turkey also makes a brief appearance on this week's podcast, during which he denies ambitions to stand in the general election.
"People have been asking me am I going to run, but the fact that Renua have come in with a joke political party as well takes away from the Poultry Party, Fianna Fowl and the Spoiled Vote Alliance, the three parties I put together."
Freezin' – The Story of the Snow Queen runs at the Olympia Theatre from December 18th to January 10th.
