Celia Larkin graduates with first class degree in politics

Ex-partner of Bertie Ahern receives degree at University of Limerick

Celia Larkin, the ex-partner of former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern graduated from the University of Limerick today.

Ms Larkin, who lives in Killaloe Co Clare, graduated with a first class honours degree in Politics and International Relations.

The 54-year-old was dressed stylishly for the conferring ceremony and wore a powder blue dress and nude painted court shoes under her cap and gown. She was accompanied to the ceremony held at University Concert Hall by her sister.

Speaking briefly afterwards Ms Larkin said she was very proud to have studied at UL. “Well I think that Limerick University is a wonderful facility, I am very proud to have gone to Limerick University and I am very happy to be here and I think it’s a great credit to a large number of people that the campus exists.”

Ms Larkin did not wish to answer any further questions but it is understood she has been accepted for a postgraduate course in public policy at University College London.

Ms Larkin was one of 2,636 students who graduated from UL this week.

Among those who also graduated was Munster and Irish Rugby International Jerry Flannery who completed a Masters in Sports Performance.

Civil engineering student Conor Ryan who is a member of the Clare Senior Hurling team also found time to celebrate his graduation amidst training for the up coming All Ireland final against Cork.
