High-gloss kitchen extends to the reflective floor

The ivory Pronorm kitchen by Craftstone Interiors (01-295 2133 or www.craftstoneinteriors.ie) is designed for someone who likes to cook and wants oodles of storage space and a drawer for every conceivable kitchen implement and gadget.

Even the narrow cutlery drawer under the hob is a deceptively large space with an internal layout designed to keep every knife in its place. Another feature is an integrated recycling area with a number of bins.

The kitchen worktop is glossy black granite and the owner decided to incorporate a matching granite floor from Tubs Tiles (01 2078010 or check tubstiles.ie for branches) at a cost of around €3,000. Shiny enough to see your reflection in, it is also hard wearing and low maintenance.

There are also some serious Siemens appliances in the room with a five-ring hob and a double oven where the upper oven can be used as a microwave, oven or grill. There’s also a full size fridge with a wine cooler that holds 48 bottles. The room is wired for flatscreen TV, and multi-room sound and has a video intercom to apprehend unwelcome visitors at the gate. For similar sized kitchen and floor tiling expect to pay around €45,000.
