Derry Clarke, chef patron at L'Ecrivain restaurant, donned his best festival wellies to host a breakfast event this morning to launch the Ultimate Picnic Banquet, a gourmet dining experience which will take place at Electric Picnic in Co Laois later this month.

Clarke, along with fellow restaurateurs and chefs Kevin Hui, Warren Massey, Ross Lewis and Lorcan Cribbin, will be serving a six-course menu opening with dim sum and progressing to sea trout, dry aged beef, a cheese course, dessert, and coffee and petits fours, in a vintage Victorian marquee.

The music and arts festival already has a packed schedule of food events running under the Theatre of Food banner, and a wide variety of casual eating options. There will be five sittings of the Ultimate Picnic Banquet, at 5.30pm on Friday, August 29th, and 1.30pm and 5.30pm on each of the following two days.

Tickets cost €120 including a half bottle of wine per person, and the entire proceeds will be donated to the charity, Console. The dress code is black tie come festival fabulous, and dress up attire will be provided. Vegetarians can be offered a different menu, with advance notice, and bookings are being taken at electricpicnic.ie/thefinediningpicnic
