Reunions and all that jazz #monkeymagic

Swinging from Blur to Gorillaz but the show must go on . . .

Gorillaz: one for the road?
Gorillaz: one for the road?

Jamie Hewlett's recent visual confirmation of a Gorillaz reunion tickled fans enormously, and the announcement echoed an age-old pattern of humming and hawing by Damon Albarn over all of his musical children. Here, we recount some of Damon Albarn's (somewhat fictionalised) most memorable comebacks. The Ticket takes no responsibility for any similarities to popular daytime reruns .

In The One where Hewlett Finds Out, Blur guitarist Graham Coxen recruits comic illustrator Hewlett to interview his new band. Albarn meets Hewlett for the first time since prom, and an undeniable chemistry sparks rumours of their getting together.

Later, in The One With The List, the lads watch MTV together. Seeing how shite it is, they make a list of how much better their virtual band could be for telly. They finally get together at the end of the episode, but it is short-lived.

Albarn and Hewlett later hook up again to release their first single Clint Eastwood (The One Where The Monkey Gets Away). It instantly becomes a smash hit and puts them in a global spotlight. (Incidentally, TV show Friends had also gained universal popularity by now.)

Their first album is a huge success, but afterwards Albarn rekindles band work with Blur, thinking Gorillaz were “on a break”. Hewlett finds out and sleeps with the hot girl from the coffee place.

In The One With The Wedding, Gorillaz reform to record Demon Days, but Albarn accidentally says Blur's name at the altar. Things get sketchy, until Hewlett makes Albarn promise never to see Blur again.

After the lads record their last album, they disband indefinitely, saying things they will later regret to the media (The One With Vegas). But now it looks like they might be back for good. Gorillaz are each other's lobster and we so totally can't even.
