Monday: Night Light
This earnest new play from Wishful Thinking is a devised experience of childhood memory, built by a company of designers, actors and theatre makers. Ambitious and intriguing.
Boys' School, Smock Alley. Ends tomorrow
Tuesday: Montage
Fresh from the Cork Midsummer Festival with Exit Strategy, Makeshift Ensemble are in the capital with this story of Claire and Rebecca, who try to tease out the answer to such gnomic questions as: "Where is the milk?", "Who stole my oysters?" and, "Will any of this matter in the future?" Our money is on the fridge, the fisherman and the fellow in the Zoltar box, who says "maybe".
Exchange. Ends Wednesday
Wednesday: A Very Zombie Fairytale
Finally the genres of zombie and fairytale have been stitched together, Frankenstein-monster style, to create the zombie-musical-puppet show we've all been waiting for. In this Whiskey Tango Foxtrot production, the kingdom of Zombonia is in crisis, as Princess Grave-Blossom is due to marry dullard human Prince Cockburn from Deefour. Here's hoping some manner of undead fairy godmother can save the day.
The Basement, Twister Pepper. Ends Saturday
Thursday: Playback
In this theatrical high-wire act, the Playback Company are borrowing stories from the audience and turning them into instatheatre, so be sure to bring along a particularly racy tale. What could possibly go wrong? Potentially everything. But at least one show will never be like another.
Siteation. Ends Thursday
Friday: Molly Bloom
Ulysses is out of copyright, and what better way to celebrate than to unleash Molly Bloom in all her glorious sensuousness. Eilin O'Dea's performance is something to behold, and unlike many productions in the festival, this one has done the rounds and has the critical plaudits to prove it.
New Theatre. Ends Saturday
Saturday: Disco Pigs
Rough Magic Seeds alumnus Rosemary McKenna is going back to Enda Walsh's work, after tackling Bedbound in 2011. This is perfect, aggressive Irish theatrical fodder for Pillowtalk Theatre Company to get its teeth into.
Smock Alley Theatre. Ends Saturday
