They've got another word for boybands, but here's the clean version. Clint Velour and his cheesy cabaret rockers stick it to the simpering twits from Borezone and Worstsh**e, but the real pisstake comes on track three, California Dublin 4, a neat little dig at a certain Blackrock band.

THE HIVES

They're not exactly aping The Monkees, but our favourite comedy Swedes have taken a stepping stone back into rock prehistory for this track from their Tyrannosaurus Hives album. Give The Hives their own TV series - it'll definitely be a hit.

Sounding like a dirty weekend with Robbie Williams and Elton John, Jake Shears and his fab band deliver the kind of catchy disco ballad ol' Robbie used to do before he took the £80 million. This will put the sex back into the slow dance sets.

His last album (24-Star Hotel) was packed with great tunes; the current one (Raining Down Arrows) is a bit hit-and-miss. This EP includes a demo of Love and Confusion, a dippy peace numbers, and two pretty decent swamp-rock tunes.

Now there's a good, strong, confident name, like Dave Genius, Pete Magic or Kevin Totally Brilliant. This hip-hop/r 'n' b ballad, co-written with Kanye West, is brash enuff - none of that Mario whinin'.
