Genre: Rock
Label: Full Time Hobby

As anyone who has observed the comings and goings of Australian pop will tell you, the country's present spell in the limelight is long overdue. The timing is particulary good for the John Steel Singers, as their second album of hazy, sunny, psychedelic, infectious songs is perfectly in tune with pop's current sway. As shown on their previous album (and its brassy Overpass earworm), the Brisbane five-piece have this trusty knack for unearthing strong melodies, quirky sounds and lush harmonies, all wrapped and rolled in sunnysideup textures. Happy Before, Common Thread and the title track are zesty and vigorous, propelled with considerable momentum and focus before the dreamy vocals take off. Those who wowed at the recent Aussie psych rising courtesy of Tame Impala, Jagwar Ma and Pond will dig State of Unrest and The Marksman. facebook.com/the johnsteelsingers Download: Happy Before, Common Thread, State of Unrest
