There will be many coming back for more from this table after last year's initial Black Radio broadcast from Robert Glasper and friends. The formula for the sequel remains largely the same, with Glasper & co laying down a sleek, alluring blend of jazz, soul and hip-hop, while guests such as Norah Jones, Emeli Sandé, Common and Jill Scott take a turn at the microphone. If Black Radio 2 lacks the beguiling and bewitching magic of the original, there are nonetheless several tracks here that warrant a rewind. Enhanced by the vocals from Scott (Calls), the excellent Marsha Ambrosius (Trust) and especially Common (truly moving up a gear on the glorious I Stand Alone), these tracks rise above the rest of the material and display a creative edge that reminds you of the first album's zip and zing. robertglasper.com
